In August of 2024 I was asked to design Dinner Party 2 - the second and much larger iteration of a restaurant I had designed three years prior.
I had designed the original 20 seat location with the intention of it feeling like someone’s home - the goal was to do the same here, but with an added sophistication in addition to the added scale.

The new space had been a short home to several businesses, most of them operating as daytime cafes/diners.
I began by making drawings and concept decks, gathered a construction team, and reached out to several creative artisans. Together we brought the space to life in just under two months.

The build out took 3 months, thanks to the help of some very talented and extremely hardworking people:
FF&E Co-design Simona Mastrolia
General construction JADCOM construction team
Finish carpentry Bobby Singer and Dylan Pierce
Painting Bryce Ramming
+Various work by members of the Dinner Party staff
We implemented many creative, cost saving measures - shown here is the evolution of the pink laminate counter. Instead of removing the existing counter we built around it, saving about 10k. Simona and I ordered custom bar nosing and the Dinner Party staff stained and sealed the new counter. I engraved various figures into the wood to make the countertop feel like a relic rather than a renovation.

The furniture and fixtures for the space were sourced from trips to flea markets and vintage marketplaces. Every object - from the center pieces to the custom tables-
has a special story.
